The story of a bottle
Great wines know how to travel through centuries and historic changes without ever renoucing their heritage. Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines are of that type. Inspired by their ancestors and always attentive to the demands of the market, winegrowers of Châteauneuf-du-Pape have chosen to create a case for their wine worthy of the thirteen grape varieties which it jealously guards...
Symbol of their attachment to this millennium-old "terroir", "La Mitrale" conveys also their desire to offer a product of unquestionable quality thanks to an innovative concept which is unique in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation : its use is governed by an exemplary Quality Charter which imposes a flawless quality control based on strict specifications.
It has been enriched by its history in order to better project itself into the future...

"La Mitrale" attests to the glory of the past while playing an integral role in the innovative tradition of Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines, showing the winegrowers' never-ending commitment to quality and perfection in order to meet ever-changing market demands and uncompromosing standards of consumers.
Two main ‘families’ of bottles are used for Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines : customised bottles, developed independently by various estates and collective bottles, created by groups of producers or by merchants. "La Mitrale" belongs to this second ‘family’. It is open to any bottler, whether producer or merchant, and its use is solely based upon respect of the quality criteria.
Created and launched in 2002, "La Mitrale" is both a brand and a model. It has become the first collective bottle available in 4 versions: 37.5 cl, 75cl, Magnum (150cl) and Jeroboam (300cl).
"‘La Mitrale de Châteauneuf-du-Pape" association, new owner of the brand and the model, has a mission of managing the Quality Charter and promoting the bottle and developing the concept on a foundation of openness to all producers and bottlers in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation.
